Health matters

I have been in communication with a former student who has experienced serious mental health problems, which started in adolescence. Her illness went undetected for a very long time, and this was the direct result of a lack of knowledge amongst health care professionals. As mental illness can often affect young people, and severely impede their ability to study, should we, as education professionals, know more about it?
